Youghal

For over 200 years the same family has used an old printing press in their shop on North Main Street, Youghal. It was even old when they bought it! In the picture below you see Bill Field meticulously selecting the letters, designing manually the posters and programmes, books and booklets for the people of Youghal. You can buy posters advertising the first Youghal screening of the film "Moby Dick " at the local cinema and hundreds more concerts and film shows. Some of the lettering can be faded but it makes it more authentic.
The shop, and its present owner, was the subject of a beautiful documentary film by Kieran Mc Carthy. Make sure you visit this incredible printing press and you can buy, if you wish, a most memorable souvenir of Youghal.
