Knockadoon Cliff Walks

There are two gorgeous cliff walks here - one is called the Capel Way and brings you alongside Capel Island, almost! The looped walk is about 6 km. and good walking shoes are advised as the path is rough. For lovers of history there is a lot to enjoy. The building on the island is a Famine Relief Scheme. There is lots more to discover. the signal tower, the World War Two lookout post, the old copper mines. The road loops along the cliff and out onto the road before bringing you back to Knockadoon. The second walk is actually two walks! You walk along the cliff side and you are given the option of continuing onwards and head for the beach or turning left and heading back via the road towards Knockadoon. Excellent maps and signs guide you all the way. Caution is advised about the beach area which is not, definitely not, advised at high tide.And , f you are lucky, the Lobster Pot will be open for a scrumptious take away when you are finished1
