The Fever Sheds

Behind what is today the Regal Cinema was a laneway in which there were Fever Sheds. There was a Fever Hospital in Youghal just on the outside of the town walls near St. Mary’s Collegiate Church. To accommodate the huge numbers suffering from fever extra sheds were built along the laneway. Some did survive and recover but most died.
