Meatshambles Lane was built in 1765 as a place for slaughtering cattle. Between the blood, the guts, the flies, dogs and animals trying to escape it was not a happy place. The shambles was moved out of town. There was also a Fish Shambles in Youghal on Nealon’s Quay
