Xplore Bagenalstown Officially Launched Alongside the River Barrow

The highly-anticipated Xplore Bagenalstown App was launched on Friday in the presence of Racehorse Trainer and former Jockey, Willie Mullins, TD Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, Councillor Arthur McDonald, Chairperson Bagenalstown Area Chamber Colin Rea and Maevita De Barros from Xplore.

The launch took place alongside the beautiful River Barrow, which passes through the Carlow town. The Xplore App and Website seeks to highlight all of the attractions, trails, and historic beauty spots that Bagenalstown has to offer.

It also aims to support local businesses in the area with the Xplore Local Voucher initiative, which a number of popular town outlets have already joined. Anyone can purchase a digital voucher by setting up an Xplore account (on the app or web). Keep an eye out for more Bagenalstown retailers accepting vouchers in the coming weeks!

Xplore Bagenalstown aims to better serve the needs of locals and tourists alike — especially in times like these when shopping and exploring locally has never been more important.

Colin Rea and team have been working tirelessly over the past number of months to get the app ready for release. He says:

'The chamber committee has been working really hard with Xplore in getting the app developed. We’re delighted to have it finished and we’re looking forward to having people in the community, and even the hinterlands, using the app.'

Also joining us at the launch was the internationally renowned racehorse trainer and jockey, Willie Mullins. His world-class stables are located on the Bagenalstown outskirts. As a trainer, 'Willie has won just about every major prize in Ireland, including most of the big ones in the UK and several in France as well for good measure.'

His impressive collection of wins include The Grand National, the Cheltenham Gold Cup (twice), The King George, The Champion Hurdle in England, Ireland and France, the Supreme Novice Hurdle and numerous Cheltenham Bumpers.

We're delighted that the people of Bagenalstown now have this digital infrastructure they can build on and we're excited to work with Colin Rea and team going forward!
