The Best Live Music Events Taking Place in Cork This Week

It feels like years since we've been able to enjoy live performances in our favourite pubs, community centres, and town parks. The pandemic really did a number on Ireland's music culture, but thankfully, live music has been making a triumphant comeback since restrictions were lifted earlier this month.

Support Cork's music scene by checking out some of the shows taking place across the county this coming week:

Fresh Air Collective - Sat. 28th August, 10 a.m.

Fermoy - FREE

The Fresh Air Collective are four musicians who come from various musical backgrounds. Thanks to funding from the Local Live Music Programming Scheme, they will appear at Fermoy Town Park this Saturday, performing a mix of original songs and classical, jazz, and Irish trad tunes.

Hifilutin - Sun. 29th August, 2 p.m.

Carrigaline - FREE

Flute quartet Hifilutin will be putting on a unique performance at Carrigaline Community Park this Sunday. Head on down to see the four talented musicians play everything from movie theme tunes to classical melodies.

You're encouraged to bring a picnic and a blanket so you can sit back and enjoy the show - here's hoping for dry weather!

Billy Kennedy - Sat. 28th August, 7 p.m

Crosshaven - €10 entry fee

Billy Kennedy is a singer/songwriter from Cork. This Saturday, he'll be playing at The Orchard in Crosshaven Community Garden, along with a band and several other superb local acts.

Set in gorgeous garden surroundings, it's sure to be quite the show. You can buy tickets to the show here.

We Used to Play Here - Tue. 31st August, 10 p.m.

Cape Clear Island - €15 entry fee

Planning a staycation or day trip to the beautiful Cape Clear Island next week?

On Tuesday, Double Bass player Caimin Gilmore and Cellist Kate Ellis of We Used to Play Here will be playing at a handcrafted venue on the island. They have spent the summer touring remote locations around Ireland, as part of an initiative to bring live music to rural communities.

The show has been described as a 'raw visceral experience of live music-making, inside an intimate, safe mobile venue.' Buy your tickets to the event here.

Neil Delamere - Thurs. 26th August, 6 p.m.

Clonakilty - €50-100 entry fee (buys 2 to 4 seats in outdoor area).

This one's not music-related, but still worth a mention! Treasured comedian Neil Delamere will be performing at Debarra Folk Club tomorrow evening.

We all deserve a laugh after what the past year and a half has thrown at us — and there's loads to be had at this award-winning Irish comic's latest show, Pick n Mix.

There are still a few tickets remaining for tomorrow's at 6 p.m. Grab your tickets here.
