High-speed Broadband Coming to Midleton | Information Event Nov 5th & 6th

National Broadband Ireland (NBI) will be holding a pop-up event in 2-4 Oliver Plunkett Place Midleton on the 5th and 6th of November.

It comes after the organisation announced in early September that works on the Fibre to the Home (FTTH) network in Midleton were finally underway.

Since then, initial 'make ready' works have begun in the townlands of Carrigtwohill, Castlemartyr, Lisgoold, Leamlara, Dungourney, Walshtown, and Ballyrussell.

The kiosk at Oliver Plunkett Place will serve as an information hub for locals who want to find out more about when high-speed fibre broadband is coming to Midleton and how to get connected.

The pop-up event will take place on November 5th and 6th from 10 am to 4 pm.

Representatives from the NBI will be on-site to offer more information about the ongoing works, as well as help people sign-up for notifications that will keep them up to date with the project's development.

National Broadband Ireland operates as part of the National Broadband Plan. €314 million has been allocated to Cork through this investment plan, with the intention of providing more rural areas with 'e-learning, remote monitoring of livestock or equipment, e-health initiatives, better energy efficiency in the home, and more remote working.'

Works are expected to finish between February 2022 – May 2022. So far, 8,440 premises in Midleton and its hinterlands are set to benefit from the high-speed broadband rollout.
