So schools out for the summer, and for many parents, that can be cause for celebration and/or dread. But if you're wracking your brains trying to figure out how to keep the kids entertained and occupied for two whole months, Libraries Ireland might be able to help.
A little while ago they launched their 'Summer Stars' programme, which encourages children to read and write during the summer months. Non-competitive and totally free to join, the national programme is run by local libraries through online and in-person events.
It's made up of several activities, including:
Your local library may be running its own online event so parents and kids are urged to keep an eye out for any additional activities that might be taking place locally.
The Summer Stars National Reading Adventure runs until the 31st of August. To fully participate in all aspects of the programme, join your local library for free online.
