Hospitality is Back!

A huge welcome back to all those in the hospitality industry reopening their doors today 🎉

How we've missed sinking into fresh sheets after a day of exploring the town.

How we've missed nipping down for a cheeky 🍸 at the bar or donning our Sunday best for a meal in the restaurant below.

How we've longed for that walk to the reception desk, for that view from the hotel room window, for that unmistakable Irish céad míle fáilte ☘️

How can you support small Irish businesses in the hospitality industry?

  • Remember that all kinds of industry establishments are reopening today, from 5-star resorts to B&Bs, campsites and glamping parks. With so much variety, there may just be someplace that suits your budget.
  • Book directly with the business in question, on their website or over the phone. It's usually cheaper than booking with a travel app (no extra fees), and you can be confident that your money is going to the small-time business owner, rather than a greedy multinational.
  • Seek out activities in the area where you're staying. Tour operators, bike rental companies, local museums, open farms and so on - many of these businesses will be relying on local tourism this summer to stay open.
  • With so many places already booked out, it's not possible for everyone to get away this summer, and not everyone can afford it. Staycationing is something to keep in mind, however, as we move out of the pandemic and flights to other countries kick off again. We're a small country, but Ireland is full of hidden gems, historical attractions, and breathtaking viewpoints — definitely worth exploring as we head into a post-pandemic era!
