Galway rowers take home Olympic bronze

Four Irish athletes competing in the Women's Four rowing at the Olympic Games in Tokyo have made history after winning bronze for Ireland early this morning.

Congratulations to Furbo’s Aifric Keogh, Moycullen’s Fiona Murtagh, and teammates Eimear Lambe and Emily Hegarty for coming third place in the Olympic rowing finals.

They came in behind Australia and the Netherlands and out in front of Great Britain to secure their spot on the podium this morning.

The team had recently won silver at the 2021 European Rowing Championship in Italy. In May, they qualified for the Olympics and jetted off to Tokyo earlier this month.

The bronze is Team Ireland's first medal at the Olympics so far - safe to say they're off to an excellent start!
