Success
Summer will officially arrive in Gort this upcoming May bank holiday weekend with an intimate outdoor gig at Chevychase woods, Lahardaun.
The fundraising event — which is organised by Abhainn Dá Loilíoch Woodland Group with support from CELT and Coillte — will kick off at 2pm on Sunday the 1st. It will run for about 2 hours and include an information session as well as acoustic music by a variety of local musicians.
The concert will feature Tommy Hayes and Matthew Noone of the musical duo AnTara. Their style is a unique mix of Irish and Indian classical music. Solo musician Uisce Jones will also perform at the event, playing a selection of his own original songs.
The ADL Group ran a similar event last September at the same location. It was a great success, with places booked out before the day and lots of families in attendance.
Tickets are free but must be booked in advance - more information here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/music-in-the-woods-tickets
Children are welcome and guests are invited to bring their own cushions or chairs if they so wish. Limited parking is available near the entrance to the woods. The concert will be held next to the river, which is a scenic 30-minute walk away from the car park.
A donations basket will be present on the day. Any and all offerings will go toward supporting the amazing work of the non-profit ADL Woodland Group, who collaborate with the local community, statutory bodies, and ecologists to restore and increase native woodlands in the Abhainn Dá Loilíoch Valley.
