Success
Locals (including the youth, older generation, and multicultural citizens) have been asked to share their experiences of growing up in the town. Organisers are also seeking local perspectives and memories of the area's historical landmarks, town streets, school life, and businesses.
The story of Bagenalstown will be brought to life through a variety of media. Several digital platforms will be used, including a podcast series, a video production, an ebook/paperback book, and a walking tour podcast.
The video will show how the streets of the town have changed over the last 70 years, while the podcast walking tour will shed light on the history behind well-known local landmarks.
It's hoped that the finished product will give community members of all backgrounds and ages a chance to work together and get to know each other. It will also highlight Bagenalstown's rich heritage and tourism potential.
The project moved online after the pandemic hit and is still open to submissions until the closing date of December 1st, 2021. The project is funded by the Creative Ireland Programme and supported by the Carlow County Council.
