Well done to the Castlerea Town Team on the exciting launch of the Xplore Castlerea website and app!

Over the past few months, they have been working hard to bring the town online after receiving funding from the Roscommon LEADER programme. Xplore have worked in partnership with the town team to make their dream a reality. The goal was to give the people of Castlerea a digital experience that was bigger and better than ever before, and now here it is!

About Xplore Castlerea

The aim of the website and app is to make it easier than ever for you to interact with your town.

Local businesses can now list their shop or service free of charge.

From hair salons to restaurants to clothes shops, there are already close to 100 listings live on the app! To have yours included, email castlereatownteam@gmail.com.

Sports clubs, attractions, and local amenities are also represented. Find phone numbers, locations (with turn-by-turn directions), weblinks, and other contact information. 

Use the interactive map in the Useful Information feature to find the location of every defibrillator in the town, as well as phone numbers (with one-touch call) for every doctor's surgery, dentist, school, and funeral provider in the immediate area.

Experience the Cloonfad Scenic Walks in a whole new way with the Hikes & Trails feature on the app. Get turn-by-turn directions in addition to information on trail difficulty, distance, and what to look out for along the routes.

With Self-Guided Tours, you can delve deeper into Castlerea's fascinating heritage. Under Attractions, you will find audio descriptions of the history behind some of the town's most iconic buildings and monuments, such as Clonalis House and Cindy's Grave.

Xplore Local is a digital infrastructure for towns. Our platform includes an app and website where locals can find information on shops, attractions, hiking routes, self-guided tours, news, and much more.

We're passionate about all things local. We want to raise the profile of Irish towns and shine a light on their rich heritage, natural beauty, family-run businesses, and proud inhabitants!

We are Irish-owned and based in Galway, but our work takes us all over the country. Over the past couple of years, we have onboarded 13 towns to our platform. The network spans five counties and includes towns such as Killarney, Clonakilty, Tralee, and Cobh. To check them out, choose 'Select Another Town' in the app dropdown menu.
