Bagenalstown is Now Live on the Xplore Platform!

We would like to extend a huge welcome to the town of Bagenalstown which has just gone live on the Xplore platform! Bagenalstown has now become part of our growing network of towns that extends from Galway to Kerry, to Cork and Carlow.

We are delighted that Bagenalstown now has a digital infrastructure for the town to build on. The platform aims to support locals and tourists alike with digital town voucher initiatives, local news, local business directories, guided trails, turn-by-turn directions, communication tools for clubs & associations, and much more...

Bagenalstown or Muine Bheag is a town on the River Barrow in Co. Carlow. It has a fascinating history, being the first in Ireland to have dual Irish-English signage. It was founded in the early 1700s by aristocrat Walter Bagenal, who purportedly wanted to model Bagnealstown on Versailles, France, originally naming the town 'New Versailles.'

Nearby attractions such as the 13th century Ballymoon Castle and the 100km Barrow Way way trail lends this Carlow town plenty of charm. The Carlow Brewing Company (makers of O'Haras Irish stout) is located in the town, and is one of the largest craft breweries in Ireland.
