In the heart of Tralee Town you will discover Tralee Town Park, a restful parkland which was formerly part of the Denny Demesne. The Park offers nature walks, rose gardens, a garden of the senses, a playground featuring a zip-wire, climbing frame, slides, swinging basket and toddler area, plus benches for the adults to chat while the kids run off steam. A commemorative fountain adorns the centre of the Park which is home to an incredible number of mature trees; 1200 in total with varieties as diverse as lime, oak, birch, pine, poplar, ash and cyprus. On summer evenings, the air is full with the fragrance of roses; one of the most extensive collections in Ireland with 35 different varieties! When all are in bloom, it really is something to behold; velvety reds, zesty oranges, lemony yellows and creamy whites, each with its own unique scent. The pink Rosa Rugosa, growing in the award-winning Garden of The Senses on the left of the park is said to be most fragrant. The kids will have fun dashing around from flower to flower sampling as many scents as possible. The most recent addition to the garden is the glass memorial wall which surrounds the statue of William & Mary & is en-scribed with the names of all past & present Roses. Tralee Town Park hosts important events for the town including the midsummer Tralee Park Festival and a regular Parkrun on the weekends. After your stroll through the roses, visit the Kerry County Museum next door. Tralee Town Park is next to the beloved St. John the Baptist Church.
