Take a pleasant stroll through Tralee Town Park. Find a fountain, garden of the senses, playground, walking trails and a renowned rose garden spreading its fragrance in the air around you. Visit the statue of William and Mary, surrounded by a commemorative glass wall, inscribed with the names of all past and present women, known as “Roses,” who have competed for the coveted title during the summertime Rose of Tralee International Festival. Contestants from around the world participate in this event, held annually since 1959. Look for other monuments, including one to Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy, and a modern limestone sculpture depicting a magical blacksmith. Walk on the grounds of the former castle, residence of the Denny family, which was torn down to make way for Denny Street in the early 19th century.
