A monastery was founded in Ardfert, Tralee, Co. Kerry by St. Brendan 'The Navigator' in the 6th century. There are three medieval churches, two ogham stones and a number of early Christian and medieval grave slabs on the site today. Ardfert Cathedral is a ruined former cathedral in Ardfert, County Kerry. Dedicated to Saint Brendan, it was the seat of the Diocese of Ardfert from 1117.
