The Ferry Inn, is a landmark traditional family-run bar and restaurant, set right on the banks of the Lough Derg and saddling Portumna's historic crossing point over the Shannon river between counties Tipperary and Galway which has a long history of bridges and ferry crossings. The twentieth-century bridge is a landmark seen from both sides of the Shannon and continuously in use by both road and waterways traffic. The Ferry has a reputation for supporting local cultural festivals and groups and host regular traditional music sessions.
