Volcano Saga

Volcano Saga is a video adaptation of the Icelandic Laxdaela Saga, following a woman’s four dreams. Featuring Tilda Swinton and Ron Vawter, the film intertwines actors with the Icelandic landscape, which becomes a central character. The work represents a pivotal moment in Jonas’ career, blending female narrative, environmental symbolism, and video art.

Whale Fall

Set in an Irish peat bog, Whale Fall follows two rural women who discover a humpback whale, raising questions about its mysterious appearance. As they uncover the truth, the whale becomes a symbol of the environmental impact of human progress, blending ecological horror with a meditation on the Anthropocene.

American Medley

American Medley is a provocative exploration of American culture through a collage of images and sounds. Using a mix of archival footage, animation, and performance, the film critiques the nation’s identity, delving into themes of consumerism, politics, and pop culture. Carson’s distinctive approach questions the contradictions and complexities of American life.

Super Gairdín

In Super Gairdín, a wandering figure stumbles upon the Cailleach, a powerful rock deity, in a desolate garden centre. This eerie film blends folk horror with themes of nature, language, and vengeance, as the Cailleach prepares to exact her revenge on humanity.

Experience a diverse array of visual narratives that challenge, inspire, and provoke thought, reflecting the dynamic interplay of contemporary art and film. Whether you're an avid cinephile or new to the world of short films, this programme promises a captivating exploration of artistic expression.
