You Can Go Your Own Way to Monroe's Live

This weekend, Monroe’s Live hosts incredible headline acts, bringing a mix of nostalgia and original new music. On Friday, December 20th, Nan Fee and the After 8s will take to the stage to pay tribute to Fleetwood Mac’s legendary album Rumours. The weekend continues on Saturday, December 21st, with Galway’s rising independent artist, Colohan and indie-rock legends, The Amazing Apples.

Fresh from performing for President Michael D. Higgins at Áras an Uachtaráin this summer, the After 8s are joining forces with Nan Fee for this special tribute night this Friday, December 20th from 9pm. Together, they bring a night of nostalgia that rekindles the magic of one of rock’s most iconic albums.

Their tribute to the Rumours album is a heartfelt and electrifying journey through Fleetwood Mac’s seminal work. Released in 1977, Rumours remains a cornerstone of rock history.

The album’s powerful tracks, including ‘Go Your Own Way,’ ‘Dreams,’ and ‘The Chain,’ have made it one of the best-selling records of all time.

From the haunting beauty of ‘Songbird’ to the anthemic energy of ‘Don’t Stop,’ the band will bring the album to life with their own unique flair. Tickets for Rumours on Friday, December 20th are €20.

Saturday, December 21st: Colohan

On Saturday, December 21st, Colohan, one of Galway’s brightest talents - James Colohan - will step into the spotlight as he continues to make waves as an independent artist. Having built a strong foundation as one of Ireland’s leading session musicians, he is now carving his own path, with influences as diverse as John Mayer, The 1975, and Ed Sheeran.

A guitarist since the age of four, Colohan’s performances showcase lightning-fast guitar licks, evocative lyrics, and a genre-spanning style.

His debut single, Time to Go, introduced audiences to his compelling mix of powerful vocals, TS808 drum beats, and intricate guitar work. His follow-up release, Somebody That You Miss, delves into heartbreak, with a country-infused underbelly.

The Hopeful Kind

Joining Colohan on Saturday, December 21st as support, are indie-pop duo The Hopeful Kind, led by Donegal native Cara Ward and Meath’s Ruth Teeling. Drawing inspiration from personal experiences of love, heartbreak, and the complexities of modern life, The Hopeful Kind recently released their single Close to You, which has already garnered attention for its captivating sound.

Afterwards at 11pm, the party continues in the Backstage venue as DJ Macca takes control of the decks with his blend of '80s and '90s hits and retro anthems.

Tickets for Colohan’s performance, with support from The Hopeful Kind, are €20. For more information log on to www.monroes.ie.

Last Bite Of The Apple for Cian

This December gig at the award-winning venue carries added significance, as it marks the final performance of band member Cian, his last bite of the apple, as he steps away after nearly 17 years.

An integral part of The Amazing Apples’ journey, Cian’s departure will undoubtedly leave a lasting impact on the band and their fans.

Reflecting on this transition, bandmates Brian, Darragh, Eamon, and Cathal shared:

“Cian has been a big part of this band since the beginning, and we want to thank him for putting up with us for so long! While it won’t be quite the same without him, we’re excited about the next chapter, with new music on the horizon for 2025. But first, we’re looking forward to giving him the proper send-off he deserves at Monroe’s Live.”

Known for their spirited, unmissable performances, The Amazing Apples continue to earn their reputation as one of Ireland’s must-see acts.

Don’t miss this chance to celebrate Cian’s incredible legacy with the band and experience the next evolution of The Amazing Apples at Monroe’s Live on Saturday, December 21st, with doors opening at 11pm.
