Portumna

On Sunday September 19th riders all over Ireland and the UK will hack out on local and main roads to raise awareness on horse, rider and driver safety when meeting horses and cars on the roads.
We are excited to announce that Portumna will join the campaign are hosting an event and everyone is welcome.
Meeting in the Irish Workhouse car park at 12pm on St Bridget Street where everyone will be asked to sign a waiver.

At 12 noon sharp the group will head off being led out by the An Garda mounted unit, down St Bridget Road, turning left down Clonfert Avenue, heading towards the bridge, then we will turn down Dominic Street onto Abby Street and into the castle grounds heading down past the marina.
Entering the forest park at the marina entrance heading through the woods exiting at the forest park main entrance on St Josephs Rd heading down past Aldi back into town. Turning left onto N65.

Turning into Portumna Retirement Village to be met by the residents who are really looking forward to this!
From there theyhead on to the main road again turning right at Hayes car sales up R355 then turn right back into the workhouse car park.
<h3>Please everyone arrive early! And please wear high viz clothing</h3>
Park with consideration for everyone else.
If your horse is spooky or kicks please DON'T bring it! The organisers want this ride to go off without a hitch and be safe for everyone involved.&nbsp;
Please obey instructions from the Guards and the ground stewards.&nbsp;

The Garda mounted unit will escort us on this 8.5km slow paced ride, and the local guards will also keep everyone safe by managing traffic, the fire brigade will be taking up the rear of the ride with the first aid jeep.&nbsp;
Looking forward to hopefully see lots attending and supporting.&nbsp;

There is also a free concert in the workhouse car park later on Sunday as our ride out is running during the Shoreline Arts Festival.&nbsp;
