The Wild Geese chapter, Grow Remote are hosting a meet-up at Portumna Forest Park, with picnic lunch and walking tour of Portumna Forest Park by renowned eco tour guide Andrea Lippert.
This event will take place on Saturday 23rd October at 1pm.
<h2>Making Acquaintance</h2>
Our event will kick off with introductions and forest picnic lunch catered for by the wonderful Lexis Hampers and Catering.
This is an opportunity for our community remote workers to discover other fellow remote, share experiences and challenges.

Our Chapter Leaders will be on hand to answer any questions on getting started, training opportunities, getting remote work ready, job opportunities.

Remote workers lives are so often ruled by an avalanche of information, by looking at screens, going from one appointment to the next. While we are concerned about our jobs, our health, money, we tend to forget how to slow down, how to be aware of ourselves, our surroundings, our life.
<h2>Portumna Forest Park Tour</h2>

Imagine, Ireland was once covered with trees, a squirrel could travel from Cork to Donegal without ever touching the ground, jumping from tree to tree. Only little is left today and maybe that makes our woodlands extra special.
After our picnic lunch, those who wish to take the tour, will take a gentle walk, slowing down, getting aware of this amazing connection between flora and fauna of a forest, getting aware of these magnificent trees often much older than we are.
Portumna Forest Park is a wonderful area to explore the world of forest and lake and we will walk in this wonderful habitat while we chat about trees. Which trees here are native to Ireland? What are their special features? What is the connection to the Celtic Tree Calendar and Ogham writing?

From Grimm’s fairy tales to the great Irish legends, stories are what bind it all together, nature and people and our connection to the land. Being out and about in the woods, chatting about our experiences and ideas, observing nature is a wonderful thing to do. Looking at trees you might forget your worries and breathe easy. You will certainly get lots of fresh forest air.
With some exercises for breathing and silence we will aim to calm the mind, breathe easy and let go of our worries so that we feel relaxed and refreshed and ready to go back to life’s challenges.

Andrea is a special tour guide weaving stories and fairy tales into her walking tours.
Andrea Lippert, the founder of Andaire, offers a special range of eco tours. She is an artist, Qigong, Tai Chi and meditation practitioner with many years experience in life coaching.
These tours are for those who cherish spending time with likeminded people, friends or family in small groups; being in nature; enjoying art, craft and culture and exploring the great outdoors.
They like to calm their minds, take time out and restore their power to deal with life’s challenges especially during the current times.

Grow Remote have a big ambition to change how employment spreads across Ireland.
Grow Remote connects remote workers, companies, and local communities so that people can choose to work where they want to live, and not vice versa.
Grow Remote, through events and an ever increasing network of local ‘Chapters’, bypasses traditional methods for creating employment opportunities in rural areas by equipping community leaders with the necessary tools and resources required to build a remote working ecosystem and connection between remote jobs, at a national and international stage, remote workers and local communities at local level.
This solution was developed by a group of community developers from across Ireland who were trying to understand the best way to bridge the gap between remote work and local impact in order to make rural communities more viable, sustainable and vibrant moving forward.
It operates as a ‘Meitheal’ - the old way of working in rural Ireland where everyone in a local area chips in with part of the solution to help support the economic and social revolution of Irish villages and rural towns through remote working.

The Grow Remote solution uses the power of remote working as a tool to promote community development. They do so through multiple forms of innovation.
By first connecting, and then creating collaborations between co-working managers, freelancers, nomads, remote workers and remote working companies, through novel channels of communication and information distribution
