Former Galway senior hurler, All-Star, and renowned high-performance coach, Tony Óg Regan, has turned two decades of experience into an empowering new book, MVP: Raise Your Game, Unlock Your Potential. The book, launched this week, helps readers find success both personally and professionally.&nbsp;&nbsp;
Inspired by his journey from accountant to athlete to sports psychologist, Regan’s book is a culmination of his time on and off the pitch.&nbsp;
He draws from his life as a high-performance coach with successful teams, including the 2016 Munster and All-Ireland champions Tipperary, the 2019 Limerick hurlers, and the 2022 All-Ireland club champions, Ballygunner.&nbsp;&nbsp;
&nbsp;“The book is a collection of 20 years of experience, both as a player and a high-performance coach, working with business teams, sports teams, and individuals at a very high level,” he says.
“I wanted to help people gain greater clarity about their vision of success in life, their purpose, their values, and the belief systems that might be holding them back. It also explores how they can face challenges with more courage rather than fear.”

Regan’s personal journey—filled with triumphs and setbacks—shapes the heart of the book. A Rahoon/Newcastle club player who represented Galway at various levels, he faced significant challenges, including being dropped from the Galway panel at nearly 30 years old.&nbsp;
This honesty runs through the book, which features relatable stories from Regan’s career and the lives of those he has coached. He highlights how internal struggles like self-doubt, lack of clarity, and resistance to change can often be tougher opponents than external challenges.&nbsp;&nbsp;
“Each chapter presents a unique mind set approach. Very often, the opponent is the internal one within us—perhaps a lack of confidence, a lack of clarity, or resistance to what has happened,” he says.
“Each chapter helps navigate those challenges, featuring relatable stories from my own journey and from people I have coached.”
