The move is to facilitate road works at an area known locally as Brackaharagh.
As a result it will not be possible to fully circumnavigate the Ring of Kerry on the dates and times the works are taking place.
“It is proposed that the N70 National Secondary Road [will close] from the entrance to O’Carroll’s Cove beach, for a distance of approximately 1.3km, to a point 100m East of the junction between the N70 and Local Road L11603,” said a Kerry County Council spokesperson.
The Ring of Kerry will be closed at this location from November 24 until December 22 on Monday to Friday between 9.30am to 1.30pm and from 3.30pm to 7pm, and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 3pm.
It will close again on January 4 until March 16 on Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 1.30pm and from 3.30pm to 7pm, and on Saturdays from 9.30am to 3pm.
“The purpose of the road closure is to facilitate the construction of the N70 Brackaharagh Road Project,” added the spokesperson. “Access will remain open for residents within the extents of the road closure and emergency vehicles. An alternative route will be clearly signposted.”
