Struggling students attending MTU are to receive financial support to help them with the cost of living crisis.

Over €250,000 has been confirmed in what is one-off funding through the Student Assistance Fund.

The funds are to assist students with the cost of books and class materials, rent, childcare and transport, among other things.

In total €4.3 million is being made available and will be distributed to students through the Access Offices in publicly funded Higher Education Colleges.

“The Student Assistance Fund is an invaluable resource for those third level students who may be struggling due to recent rises in the cost of living and will be made available to applicants in early 2023,” Minister Foley said.

“I thank Minister Harris for confirming this funding which will provide further supports to students attending MTU and Higher Education Institutions throughout Ireland.”
