<h3>Killarney history will feature in a new book that will be launched in the Heights Hotel next Tuesday night (October 25).</h3>
&#8216;Seanchas Cathaoir &Oacute; Braon&aacute;in&rsquo; is a 290 page compilation of the writings of Cahersiveen native Fr Charles Brennan (1875-1937). He was professor in St Brendan&rsquo;s Seminary, Killarney for nine years.
 As a Gaelic activist he helped found Craobh na n&Aacute;irne of the Gaelic League and edit the famed monthly &lsquo;Loch L&eacute;in&rsquo;.
 Writing under his pen-name &lsquo;&Oacute;is&iacute;&rsquo;, he achieved national acclaim. As curate in Tralee (1907-1914) he became actively involved with the Volunteers with the result that Dublin Castle insisted on him being transferred from the county capital.
 Enroute to his Castletownbere Parish &#8216;Small&#8217; Jer O&rsquo;Leary presented him with a rifle in Killarney&rsquo;s Railway Station. He did so on behalf of the Tralee Volunteers as their parting gift to their leader.
 The new book is researched and published by M&iacute;che&aacute;l &Oacute; Raghallaigh who is a member of Killarney&rsquo;s Conradh na Gaeilge for 40 years.
 His compendium of &#8216;&Oacute;is&iacute;n&rsquo;s&#8217; poetry, musical compositions and writings in both English and Irish will be launched by Fr Tom Looney in The Heights Hotel on Tuesday at 8.30pm.
