<h3>Over 20 people gathered&nbsp;on Tuesday to celebrate&nbsp;the Feast Day of Brigid&nbsp;and managed to help raise &euro;500 for a local women&#8217;s charity.</h3>
The event was hosted by Kerry Walker of The Nature Hub in Beaufort and the&nbsp;charity gathering also&nbsp;sought to revive some of the traditions and customs of Brigid a.k.a. Mhuire na nGael.
Kerry said that&nbsp;it&nbsp;was &#8220;wonderful to share the natural space with people of all ages and revive the traditional crafts and customs of Ireland in a community setting&#8221;.
&#8220;The day marks the beginning of spring in the Celtic calendar and is also known as Imbolc. Spring is an important time in nature as the dormancy of winter begins to stir. As the days get longer and COVID&nbsp;restrictions are lifted there is a sense of hope and new beginnings in the air,&#8221; she said.
&#8220;The gathering allowed attendees to socialise and share insights into what Brigid&#8217;s Day means to them while crafting a traditional Brigid&#8217;s Cross from soft rushes.
Some attendees hadn&#8217;t made a Brigid&#8217;s Cross in many, many years, but were able to do so eventually through the assistance of others. The outdoor event was a great success with attendees enjoying the scones, cake and company. &euro;500&nbsp;raised for ADAPT Kerry&nbsp;Women&#8217;s Refuge and Support Services.&#8221;
Catherine Casey, the Manager of&nbsp;ADAPT Kerry was in attendance.
&#8220;I am so happy to be in such a beautiful setting&nbsp;in The Nature Hub surrounded by supporters of our charity,&#8221; she said. &#8220;All donations are most welcome to help us continue our vital work as the only women&#8217;s refuge in Kerry,&#8221; she added.&nbsp;
