<h3>The music world has been deeply saddened by the passing of grunge music legend Mark Lanegan who passed away at his Killarney home on Tuesday.</h3>
Lanegan was a member of bands &lsquo;Queens of the Stone Age&rsquo; and &lsquo;The Gutter Twins&rsquo; and collaborated with many other famous artists such as Nirvana&rsquo;s Kurt Cobain.
The former member of &lsquo;Screaming Trees&rsquo; had been living locally since 2020 after falling in love with the area while performing at the legendary &lsquo;Other Voices&rsquo; festival in Dingle.
Lanegan, born in Ellensburg, Washington in November 1964 was of Irish-American heritage.
His solo debut album, &lsquo;The Winding Sheet&rsquo; also featured a collaboration with Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain.
He moved to Killarney to re-establish his connection with his ancestral homeland and as a headquarters for his live European and UK tours.
News of his death was announced on Twitter: &ldquo;Our beloved friend Mark Lanegan passed away this morning in his home in Killarney, Ireland. A beloved singer, songwriter author and musician, he was 57 and is survived by his wife Shelley. No other information is available at this time. We ask please respect the family privacy&rdquo;.
