<h3>Volunteers from Killarney Mountain Meitheal are nearing the end of a six-week project that will rejuvenate the popular Blue Pool walkway near Muckross.</h3>
<p>Working under the supervision of senior Killarney National Park officers and National Parks and Wildlife Services management, the volunteers have been trimming back  rhododendron in the area.</p>
<p>The invasive species encroaches on to the walkways – especially the smaller shorter loop that has audio tape available as a guide for the visually impaired.</p>
<p>“We have been in there for the last six week,” Killarney Mountain Meitheal’s Johnny McGuire told the Killarney Advertiser. “We are working under the guidance of NPWS manager Danny O’Keefe as part of an ongoing project.”</p>
<p>Such is the volunteers dedication, they were on site Wednesday morning, in the middle of a yellow weather rain storm, to complete this week’s tasks.</p>
<p>Among the volunteers present was former Mayor and retired politician Michael Gleeson.</p>
