<h3>Legendary accordion player, Killarney resident and Newmarket, County Cork native Liam O&rsquo;Connor will pick up a Pride of Cork Award next month.</h3>
The annual Pride of Cork Awards are organised by Cork Civic Life, an online lifestyle magazine dedicated to Cork people at home and abroad.
The ceremony will take place on Friday, November 26 at The Clayton Hotel Silver Springs with Miriam O&#8217;Callaghan of RT&Eacute;, PJ Coogan of The Cork&#8217;s 96FM and Patricia Messinger of C103 Cork as comp&egrave;res.
The organising committee have selected O&rsquo;Connor for a &lsquo;Pride of Cork&rsquo; award for many reasons including: &ldquo;in recognition of the outstanding contribution that Liam has made to Irish music for close to 30 years in the promotion of Ireland, locally and globally&rdquo;, and &ldquo;in recognition of Liam being listed in the Guinness World Records as having the fastest fingers in the world on the accordion&rdquo;.
&ldquo;I am delighted,&rdquo; Liam told the Killarney Advertiser. &ldquo;It is always nice to be recognised and acknowledged in your own county.&rdquo;
