<h3>Q: What is the Drugs Payment Scheme?</h3>
<p>A: Under the Drugs Payment Scheme, you only have to pay a maximum of €80 each month for approved prescribed drugs and medicines, and certain appliances.</p>
<h3>Q: Can I apply for this scheme?</h3>
<p>A: You can apply for the scheme if you are living in Ireland and intend to live here for at least one year. If you have a medical card, you are not eligible for the Drugs Payment Scheme because most of your prescription costs are covered under the medical card scheme.</p>
<h3>Q: How do I apply?</h3>
<p>A: You can apply online or by post. To apply online, visit mydps.ie.<br />
To apply by post, get an application form from your Local Health Office or download a copy of the Drugs Payment Scheme application form (PDF) online.</p>
<p>You can also phone 0818 22 44 78 (LoCall) to have a form sent to you by post. You then send the completed application by post to the address on the form.</p>
<h3>Q: Who is covered by the scheme?</h3>
<p>A: The scheme covers approved prescriptions for you, your spouse or partner and your children aged under 18 (or under 23 if in full-time education).</p>
<h3>Q: Do I have to register with one pharmacy?</h3>
<p>A: No, you don’t have to register with a specific pharmacy, but, if you use two or more pharmacies in one month, you may pay over the maximum threshold of €80. If this happens you can apply for a refund of the amount you spent above the €80 threshold.</p>
