<h3>Killarney students will learn today (Friday) if their BT Young Scientist &amp; Technology Exhibition projects have been successful.</h3>
The BT Young Scientist &amp; Technology Exhibition is much more than a competition &ndash; it is the experience of a lifetime for the students and teachers who take part. Designed to raise schools&rsquo; engagement in the critical subjects of science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM), the Exhibition calls upon students aged 12-19 years from all over the island of Ireland to showcase innovative science and technology projects.
Five separate projects, four from St Brigid&rsquo;s Secondary School and one from Killarney Community College represented the town in the virtual exhibition which runs from Wednesday 12 to Friday 14.
&ldquo;St. Brigid&#8217;s Presentation Killarney are so thrilled to announce that we have four projects through to the finals of the BT Young Scientist,&rdquo; said the school&rsquo;s PRO Sheree Murphy.
The entrants include: Abbie O&#8217;Sullivan and Keira Geaney with their project &lsquo;My Carbon Buddy&rsquo;; Olivia Gaffey and Clodagh Lucey with their project &lsquo;What factors influence the perceived rate of exertion on students?&rsquo;; Anna Moynihan&#8217;s project title is &lsquo;A comparative study: VSCO vs. Instagram and how they affect the self-esteem/mental health of adolescents&rsquo;, and Ali O&rsquo;Donoghe and Eilis Mullane for their project on &lsquo;Vertical Farming.&rsquo;
&ldquo;I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all students that entered the BT Young Scientist &amp; Technology Exhibition 2022. The exhibition continues to provide a real opportunity to our young people to engage in so many diverse aspects of science and technology,&rdquo; said Minister for Education Norma Foley TD. &ldquo;I look forward to learning more about the findings and exciting creative solutions that have been uncovered in our students&rsquo; work. Supporting the exhibition as a key partner is an important part of the Department&rsquo;s strategy for STEM education.&rdquo;
