The 14-year-old from Hazlewood Drive eliminated rival Martin Sweeney of the Galway-based Olympic Boxing Club 60 seconds into the opening round in the National Stadium in Dublin on Friday night.
His next major competition is the Irish Cadet Championships at the same venue in July but already the prodigious boxer is eyeing bigger competitions in Europe.
“He has won county, provincial and All-Ireland, he cannot go any further in this country,” his father James told the Killarney Advertiser.
“In his next fight in the Cadets, he will be fighting against the age group above him.”
Fellow local boxers Leah Sheehan and Alana O’Brien won the ‘Girls 4’ 66kg class final and the ‘Girls 4’ 49kg final on Friday too.
It was O’Brien’s fourth Irish title in a row. She won Friday night’s fight on an unanimous 5-0 decision.
She has never lost a fight in Ireland and next up for the Kildare-based Killarney boxer is The Hull Box Cup in England.
