Mike’s Takeaway, described by auctioneers Sherry-Fitzgerald Coughlan as “a Killarney icon”, is one of the town’s best known and loved late night restaurants.
Frequented by locals and tourists, the traditional takeaway operates until 4am seven nights a week during the busy summer season.
It is one of only three late night takeaways licenced in the town until this time – Den Joe’s and The Mayflower are the other two.
New businesses are restricted by the Town Development Plan and must close by 12 midnight.
The Buckley family are retiring after 40 years serving the people of Killarney.
“Mike’s is a Killarney icon and even more unique as it operates as a ‘hole in the wall’,” auctioneer Michael Coughlan told the Killarney Advertiser.
“We have a lot of interest. I expect a deal to be concluded early next week if not sooner.”
