<h3>There was a good turnout to an annual fundraising walk to remember a much loved local lady.</h3>
Family, friends and colleagues of Kay McCarthy from Tullig, Spa, came together on Sunday April 24 for the &#8216;3k for Kay&#8217; in aid of the Irish Cancer Society (ICS).
Walkers met at Nav&eacute; coffee did a loop around Ross Castle and back.
Last year&#8217;s &#8216;3k for Kay&#8217; was done virtually due to COVID and Kay&#8217;s family and friends were overwhelmed to raise to &euro;13,000 for the Irish Cancer Society.
Participants were asked to wear blue, which was Kay&#8217;s favourite colour.
Kay, who worked in the accounts office in Daly&#8217;s SuperValu for 25 years and in Pretty Polly before that, was a much loved local woman. She was diagnosed with stomach cancer and bravely fought a three and a half year battle but sadly passed away on April 25, 2017.
&#8220;We had such a great turn out for the memorial walk including friends, family and also people in the area who have been affected by cancer in their own family,&#8221; Kay&#8217;s daughter Jenny told the Killarney Advertiser.
&#8220;It was such a special day, although an emotional time also, it really helped to keep mom&#8217;s memory alive. As a family we miss mom greatly however, it gives us some comfort to know that we can give back to the Irish Cancer Society in her name. We are so grateful to all who donated and participated in the fundraiser in memory of Kay.&#8221;
