<h3>Fire crews in counties Kerry and&nbsp;Cork have attended over 50 gorse fires in recent days.</h3>
<p>Today (Wednesday)&nbsp;National Park and Wildlife Service (NPWS) Conservation Rangers, Sam Bayley and Danny O&#8217;Keeffe, Regional Manager, Killarney National Park, assessed the uplands of Killarney National Park &#8211; Cores Mountain.</p>
<p>There were fears that sections of woodlands in the Park&nbsp;could be destroyed after a large fire started as a controlled gorse fire in a designated area of special conservation.</p>
<p>Under Section 40 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 it is an offence to burn&nbsp;from today March 1&nbsp;to August 31 in any year, any vegetation growing on any land not then cultivated.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>
