That’s right, Hollywood A-lister Michael Fassbender was in town and The West End House School of Arts founder enjoyed ‘An Evening with Colm Bairéad’ the award winning writer and director of Irish language blockbuster ‘An Cailín Ciúin’. Fassbender is on a pre-Christmas trip home from Portugal where he now lives with his partner and son and visited Fossa NS and St Oliver’s NS before attending the event with Bairéad at West End House. “We’re very passionate about creating a community for people to explore their own creative process, so having Colm here last weekend was very special in launching doing just that. Colm’s work is inspiring on a global scale, but particularly here in Ireland, and we were very honoured to welcome him to West End House to speak to our students about his beautiful film ‘An Cailín Ciúin’,” Creative Director of West End House School of Arts, Jessica Courtney Leen, said. The school is a thriving centre of creativity in Killarney with Curriculum Classes, After School Classes and Adult Evening Classes in Acting and Writing. “In such a short time the West End School of Arts has made an enormous contribution in the Killarney area by facilitating all ages to engage and get involved with every aspect of stage and screenwriting and performance. “It was a privilege for me to attend the special evening with Colm Bairéad and hear him tease out the process of adopting Claire Keegan’s novella ‘Foster’ for the big screen in his award-winning Irish language film. “I was thrilled to meet and tell Colm in person – Beir bua le do scannáin An Cailín Ciúin i Hollywood ag Óiche na hOscair,” said Sean O’ Luanigh who is a student in the West End House Writing for Screen course.
