<h3>A total &euro;80,000 has been allocated for the construction of retaining wall adjacent to the Flesk River, in Ballycasheen under a regional and local roads programme announced by the Minister for Transport, Eamon Ryan on Tuesday.</h3>
<p>Last year Cllr Donal Grady led calls for the construction of a safety barrier that is urgently needed in the area.<br /> He raised concerns after a number of cars crashed into the Flesk River across the road from Bowler&rsquo;s Garage.</p>
<p> &ldquo;It is badly wanted,&rdquo; he told the Killarney Advertiser shortly after Tuesday&#8217;s announcement. &ldquo;The road is in danger of being swept away and there is no protection for cars &ndash; they can drive straight in there.&rdquo;</p>
<p> Mayor Marie Moloney added: &#8220;I also welcome the funding for the erection of a retaining wall to alleviate flooding from the Flesk River which has caused so much hardship to residents and businesses in this area.&#8221;</p>
