<h3>Local cyclists are so keen to help others taking to the road that they&#8217;ve launched the &#8216;Couch to Ring of Kerry&#8217; mentoring programme.</h3>
<p>An information session for people interested in joining the programme will be held on Monday next, April 11 at St Oliver&#8217;s National School, Ballycasheen, where all will be explained. The programme will officially commence on Wednesday April 20.</p>

<h3>Skills and experience</h3>
<p>The aim of the &#8216;Couch to Ring of Kerry&#8217; mentoring programme is to provide adults new to road cycling and those who have not cycled in years, an opportunity to gain skills and experience of cycling in a group on open road in a safe and enjoyable environment as a stepping stone to riding in the Ring of Kerry cycle itself.</p>
<p>A group of experienced Killarney Cycling Club cyclists will accompany participants on a once weekly cycle along a pre-planned route starting from a distance of 20km and building over the course of the 10 week programme to a distance of 80km.<br />
All you need is a roadworthy bike, a cycling helmet and a willingness to have a go!</p>
<p>The first three spins are free, thereafter participants will need to join the Killarney Cycling Club.</p>
