A Killarney-based choir, that was only founded in February of this year, is preparing for its first Christmas concert.

The Kerry Concert Choir will host ‘Carols from the Cathedral’ at St Mary’s Cathedral, on December 4.

Founded by renowned Soprano Dr Sharon Lyons, Kerry Concert Choir has been rehearsing for this big occasion for months.

Directed by Lyons, the choir will perform some of most loved seasonal songs like ‘O Holy Night’, ‘In the Bleak Mid-Winter’, ‘Carol of the Bells’, ‘Hark! The Herald Angels Sing’.

“The concert includes some of the world’s most beautiful traditional Christmas carols,” Sharon, who has a Masters’ degree in Early Music and Chant, and a PhD from the Irish World Academy, said.

The concert will also feature the Kerry Scotia Ensemble – a 10 piece orchestra, members of St Mary’s Cathedral Choir and special guest, Countertenor, Nils Wanderer.

The event will raise funds for Down Syndrome Kerry and tickets, which cost €20 plus booking fee, are available from eventbrite.ie by searching ‘Kerry Concert Choir’.
