<h3>A Kerry County Councillor is calling for the annual Fianna Fáil Árd Fheis to be held in Killarney.</h3>
The Árd Fheis cannot go ahead at The Citywest Hotel in Dublin on June 17 and 18 as the hotel is currently housing Ukrainian refugees and its Convention Centre is in use as an overflow for processing refugees at times when Dublin Airport is over capacity.
The Deputy Mayor of Kerry County Council, Cllr Michael Cahill has voiced his disappointment on the unavailability of the original venue but said Killarney is the perfect alternative.
“Many people had plans made, leave arranged etc in order to attend this highly important event on the political calendar. It now appears that the venue cannot proceed with the gathering and obviously that also puts the dates into question as well for an alternative venue,” said the Rossbeigh-based Councillor.
“I would strongly suggest that Killarney is a most suitable destination with a large array of accommodation, restaurants and entertainment available, and should be considered.
“It is extremely important that the Fianna Fáil Árd Fheis goes ahead and there may not be many available options at such short notice. Killarney, being the tourism capital of Ireland, is better equipped than most, to step in and save the day.”
