<h3>Not only did one young girl decide to chop 12 inches off her hair but she also raised over &euro;1,000 to help sick kids.</h3>
Nine-year-old Brooke Sugrue from Pairc Chuimin, Kilcummin visited S&eacute;an Taaffe&#8217;s Hair Salon in Killarney recently to cut her hair for charity, following her First Holy Communion in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Kilcummin, on Saturday, September 25.
Secret Balloons left her a balloon to mark the occasion. Brooke then donated her hair to The Little Princess Trust and is currently raising funds for the LauraLynn charity.
So far she has raised over &euro;1,000 and far exceeded her original target of &euro;250.
Her mom Elaine Sugrue explained that she received great support from everyone they know including a lot of extended family.
&#8220;Broke let her hair long for her Communion,&#8221; her mom told the Killarney Advertiser. &#8220;I said it&#8217;d be a nice thing to do to cut it for charity. She was very excited and she&#8217;s now very proud because she knows she helped others who need it. We are very proud of her. She has quite a lot of extended family and they&#8217;re amazed at what she&#8217;s achieved.&#8221;
School principal Gillian Sheehan added that the school community is also very proud of their Third Class pupil.
&#8220;We are all very proud of her and wish her the best with this thoughtful and kind deed.&#8221;
