<h3>Killarney woman Brid O&rsquo;Connor was named as one of eight Fexco Kerry Heroes of 2021 just before Christmas.</h3>
The awards, presented by Radio Kerry, were presented to people who made outstanding contributions to Kerry life over the last year.
Brid, a cancer survivor, was recognised for her book &lsquo;Spark&rsquo;. The collection of short stories raised &euro;1000 for the Comfort for Chemo, Kerry.
Late last year she was a guest with&nbsp;fellow Killarney resident Ian O&rsquo;Connell on his Radio Kerry Programme &lsquo;Standing Out&rsquo; programme.
&ldquo;Brid O Connor is a breast cancer survivor who lost her mother to the same disease. She has written &#8216;Spark&#8217; &ndash; a beautiful collection of conversations with people who have suffered pain, loss and life altering events and have had the strength to reset their lives following these trials,&rdquo; said Radio Kerry&rsquo;s Melanie O&rsquo;Sullivan.
Each award recipient will be presented with a specially created 2021 award of a handcrafted vase sponsored by Louis Mulcahy Pottery/Potad&oacute;ireacht na Caol&oacute;ige, Clogher, Ballyferriter.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;
