 Another solution to St Finan&rsquo;s Hospital has been put before Kerry County Council.</h3>
The landmark building has been idle since 2012 and so far, any proposal to put the building to public or private use as failed.
 The latest proposal came from Castleisland/Corca Dhuibhne Area Municipal District Councillor Breand&aacute;n Fitzgerald.
 At Monday&rsquo;s full meeting of Kerry County Council he asked: &ldquo;That Kerry County Council call on the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage to immediately provide grants to do essential works on vacant State buildings such as the Old Dingle Hospital and St. Finan&#8217;s Hospital in Killarney in order that they could be used in the short term for housing refugees.&rdquo;
 As a result the Council will write to the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage and a response should be available in a few weeks&rsquo; time.
 Earlier this month, a Kerry County Council engineer told a Killarney Municipal District meeting that &ldquo;refurbishment costs are very prohibitive to turn into social housing&rdquo;.
 However, the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage&rsquo;s response to Fitzgerald&rsquo;s letter will tell a lot on what the Government intends to do with the site.
