<p>Kilkenny County Council has nominated three community groups for the IPB Pride of Place Awards for 2024. These awards celebrate and honour the spirit of community in Ireland, highlighting the extraordinary efforts made by local groups to improve their communities. The Pride of Place judging panel will be in Kilkenny on Thursday 29th and Friday 30th August, to assess the community projects.</p>
<p>The nominated groups from Kilkenny have been recognised for their dedication and hard work in enhancing community well-being, fostering creativity, and preserving the local heritage and environment. Each group has been selected for a specific category that reflects their unique contributions.</p>
<h4>Community Wellbeing Initiative&nbsp;</h4>
<p>Ferrybank Community Group are nominated under the Community Wellbeing Initiative Category. This group has undertaken a variety of projects, including those completed by the Men’s Shed, to improve the overall well-being of their community. During the judging visit, the group will showcase their projects at the Hillsfield Centre and will provide the judges with a tour of the sensory gardens and allotments, highlighting the positive impact these initiatives have had on the community.</p>

<h4>Creative Communities:</h4>
<p>Johnstown Community Group are nominated under the Creative Communities Category. The community in Johnstown has restored a building in the heart of the village, transforming it into a vibrant space for community use. As part of the judging process, primary and secondary school students will demonstrate their efforts to enhance local biodiversity, and the local heritage group will discuss the significant restoration work undertaken at Grangefertagh in Johnstown, Co. Kilkenny.</p>
<h4>Village Population:</h4>
<p>Inistioge Community Group are nominated under the Village Population Category. This group will introduce the judges to the picturesque village of Inistioge, followed by a tour of the community centre, the garden allotments, the local waterfall, and Woodstock Gardens. The tour will showcase the community's dedication to preserving and enhancing the natural beauty and heritage of their village.</p>

<h4>A Remarkable Achievement:</h4>
<p>The Cathaoirleach of Kilkenny County Council, Cllr. Michael McCarthy, extends his best wishes to all three nominated groups:&nbsp;</p>

<h4>Awards Ceremony:</h4>
<p>The winners of the IPB Pride of Place will be announced at an Awards Ceremony in November, 2024 which takes place in Monaghan.&nbsp;</p>
