<p>Kilkenny is set to come alive with the sights and sounds of world-class musical performances as five American marching bands and one USA concert band descend on the Marble City for St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny 2025. As part of the city’s free entertainment programme, the festival will welcome a record number of American bands outside of the capital, further cementing Kilkenny’s reputation as a premier destination for Ireland’s national holiday celebrations.</p>
<h4>A Cultural Exchange</h4>
<p>Festival organiser's anticipate attracting 100,000 tourists across the bank holiday weekend, as visitors revel in the high-energy, vibrant performances filling the streets with the sounds of brass, percussion, and woodwinds. The event is a significant cultural exchange between Ireland and the United States, showcasing the pageantry and tradition of American marching bands in Kilkenny’s medieval setting.</p>

<p><strong>Festival Chairperson and Mayor of Kilkenny Municipal District, Cllr. Andrew McGuinness, expressed his enthusiasm for the international participation:</strong></p>
<p>"Kilkenny is a special place where history, culture, and hospitality come together like nowhere else. We are honoured to welcome so many talented band members from across the Atlantic this year. The bond between Ireland and the USA is built upon shared heritage and friendship, and we’re proud to welcome so many visitors who make Kilkenny their home away from home.”</p>
<h4>Award-Winning Bands</h4>
<p>Among the standout performances, the Illinois State University Marching Band will deliver a high-energy show at Kilkenny Castle and throughout the city on Saturday, March 15th. On Sunday, March 16th, festivities begin at 10am with the return of the Legacy Marching Band from Broomfield, Colorado, which previously performed in Kilkenny in 2018.</p>
<p>Joining the lineup is the Waukee High School Marching Band from Iowa, known for their precision and impressive musicality. The University of Central Florida (UCF) Marching Knights, who have graced Disney’s Christmas Parade and Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, will also take part. Rounding out the marching bands is the award-winning Horizon High School Marching Band from Thornton, Colorado.</p>
<p>In addition to the street performances, a special seated concert at St. Canice’s Cathedral will feature the Bayport High School Concert Band, returning to delight audiences with their harmonious sounds in one of Kilkenny’s most historic venues.</p>

<h4>Lots of Events Planned</h4>
<p>The St. Patrick’s Festival Kilkenny 2025 promises a jam-packed weekend of music and entertainment, with over 120 events planned from March 14th to 17th. Families can enjoy a variety of activities, including the big wheel and vintage fairground, theatre, workshops, pop-up performances, and the hypnotic PyroCollective fire show. Festival goers can also enjoy two days of free concerts on the festival stage.</p>
<p>The celebrations will culminate in the grand spectacle of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, bringing local stories and community spirit to life against the stunning backdrop of Kilkenny Castle.</p>
