<h4>Impressive Shortlist for Galway Age Friendly Housing&nbsp;</h4>
A purpose-built housing development for older residents, celebrated for its accessible, sustainable design that supports aging has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.&nbsp;
Located in <a href="https://xploreapp.io/galway" target="_blank">Galway</a> city, An Cliathán was created in collaboration with local authorities and community members. Galway City Council has been shortlisted for an award in the Housing Category at the National Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards.&nbsp;&nbsp;
The development combines modern design with accessibility, featuring barrier-free entrances, accessible transport links, communal spaces, and green areas to encourage active lifestyles and community connections.&nbsp;

Leonard Cleary, Chief Executive of Galway City Council, shared his pride in the recognition:&nbsp;

Deputy Mayor of Galway City, Cllr. Níall McNelis, added,&nbsp;
<blockquote>“The collaboration between OCC Construction, Galway City Council, and the Design Team produced a high-quality development that provides much-needed housing units in Galway City. It is a great step forward in the Galway City Council Housing Delivery Action Plan 2022-2026.”</blockquote>

An Cliathán’s quality was also recognised earlier this year when OCC Construction won best project in the "Residential up to €5M" category at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards 2024.
The Age Friendly Recognition and Achievement Awards, organised by Age Friendly Ireland, honour projects that enhance the lives of older adults in communities, fostering independent, healthy living. An Cliathán complements the Galway City Age Friendly Programme, which seeks to improve the services and facilities older residents value most.
