Emer Whelan, the creative force behind Emer Whelan Art launched her summer collection 'Kaleidos' at The West End Art Collective, on Dominick Street in Galway.
Her work is influenced by the natural surrounds of her upbringing on Lough Mask, combining lakeside tranquility with urban Galway city living.
Originally from Cahir Pier on Lough Mask but now calling Galway city home, Emer infuses her surroundings into her art, capturing the essence of the lake and the energy of the urban.
Inspired by her parents, she follows in the artistic creativity of her mother, a painter and sketcher, and her father’s inherent love of nature.
Through her work, she shows appreciation for the calm of her childhood environment and marries this with the vitality of the festivals, charisma, and chaos of the city she now calls home.
At the heart of Emer’s artistic expression lies her innovative use of lasers, transforming wooden canvases into works of art.
This collection of 15 pieces reflects Emer’s vision and passion for exploring the boundaries of traditional mediums.
So much so, the laser wood cutting techniques she uses are self-taught, developing the skill set she needed to bring her creations to life.
With Emer Whelan designs, colours dance on wood, breathing life into spaces and lighting the imagination.
For her, colour has the power to trigger memories and evoke emotions, igniting a sense of nostalgia and connection within the viewer.
From her studio in Galway, Emer invites us to experience the beauty of her creations.
Pieces start from €375 and are available to view on www.emerwhelanart.com
