On the Square, this was once the family home of the Glynns, a well-known merchant family whose members included Patrick Mc Mahon Glynn, one of the founders of the Australian Federation. His brother Sir Joseph Glynn was prominent in legal circles in the first half of the 20th century and one branch of the Glynns opened a tobacco factory here. The building was first opened as the Munster & Leinster Bank in 1919 and became the AIB in 1966.
