Jon Richards is currently celebrating 35 years in the radio industry as Head of Production, Broadcaster and Programme Director at Galway Bay FM. Jon also drives a Honda Goldwing 1800 motorbike and delivers "Live Traffic" reports for morning breakfast show and FYI Galway in the evening. 

Since joining Galway Bay FM in 1989 his In-Studio Sessions have now become the stuff of legend, featuring virtually everyone of note in Irish music (and sometimes beyond), from Damien Rice and Roesy to Beth Orton and Lloyd Cole. 

&nbsp;We caught up with Jon to see how he will spend his Galway Weekend, Lockdown Edition, he’s really spoiling us...

Are you an Apple or Android Person?

Android. 
What 3 apps would you recommend during the lockdown? 
Netflix to watch some shows, amazon prime, and kindle unlimited because we all have more time for reading now. 
What’s your favourite place in the city? 
It’s got to be the prom, it’s beautiful out there, I love to ride along there in the mornings whilst covering the traffic on the motorbike. 

Any hidden gem you would recommend for visitors to Galway? They will be back.

Renville Park in Oranmore is a fantastic place for a walk, there is something about a walk in the woods that really energises you. It’s a big hit with the locals but rarely see the tourists out there. 
Where is your favourite place to grab a bite to eat? 
There are too many to choose from as Galway is spoiled for choice when it comes to food, that said, Martines has been a favourite lately. 
When this blows over, what pub would recommend for I don’t drink myself but,

Any recommendations for a place to go on a first date, or any date once we all get back out there?

On my first date after the lockdown, I would love to go for an Indian meal followed by an episode of The Crown and a Ferrero Rocher. Favourite walk or hike in Galway?

For me, it’s the Prom or Renville Park, every time 
Most picturesque place in Galway? 

We are so lucky to live in a city where there are some many waterways. I think that the banks of the Corrib are beautiful and uniquely Galway. 
What are you up to for the weekend?

This weekend I will catch up on some reading, get a few walks in, whilst observing social distancing, and I will watch a bit of Netflix and most of all, unwind.
